IoT & OT Cybersecurity

Tailored consulting that secures your ecosystem of connected devices, networks and industrial systems, from sensors to SCADA.

What’s included

IoT & OT cybersecurity strategy

A cybersecurity strategy built specifically for IoT and OT environments, covering connected devices, networks and industrial control systems.

Regulatory compliance for IoT/OT

  • Compliance with standards such as NIST SP 800-82, ISA/IEC 62443 and GDPR.
  • Compliance frameworks aligned with national and international best practice.

IoT & OT vulnerability scanning

  • Continuous scanning of connected devices and OT systems, including control systems, sensors and actuators.
  • Unpatched devices, insecure channels and misconfigurations found before they lead to breaches.

Wireless & network security testing

  • Testing of wireless networks common in IoT, such as Wi-Fi, Zigbee and LoRaWAN.
  • Review of protocols and configurations across interconnected industrial networks.

Risk assessment for IoT/OT

  • In-depth assessments of devices, sensors, networks and OT systems such as SCADA and PLCs.
  • Threats like unauthorised access, data breaches and malware identified across IoT and OT.

IoT/OT incident response

  • Response plans designed for IoT and OT environments.
  • Rapid recovery and forensics for OT incidents, including attacks on critical infrastructure.

Penetration testing for IoT/OT

  • Ethical hacking of firmware, communication protocols and access controls.
  • Assessment of physical and network attack paths to SCADA, PLCs and embedded systems.

IoT/OT device security review

  • Hardware and firmware analysis of individual devices.
  • Review of device authentication, encryption and data protection.

Why OT needs a different approach

Industrial systems control physical processes, so an attack can stop production, damage equipment or put lives at risk. The Gulf has seen this first hand: Shamoon hit regional energy companies, and Triton was built to attack the safety systems of an industrial plant in the Kingdom.

The Purdue model and segmentation

Most OT programmes use the Purdue model to separate field devices (levels 0 and 1), control and supervisory systems (levels 2 and 3) and the business network (levels 4 and 5). A well-designed industrial DMZ between IT and OT is one of the most important protections. We combine Purdue with IEC 62443 zones and conduits to design segmentation that holds.

Our safe approach

We never run aggressive scans on live control systems. We prefer passive monitoring, work in planned maintenance windows, coordinate with operations and safety teams, and test in a lab or staging environment wherever possible.

Why CYBRT

Riyadh-based, Gulf-focused

Headquartered in Riyadh, working with organisations across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.

Certified consultants

Our team holds CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, CCSP, CCSK, COBIT and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certifications, among others.

Regulation-ready

We work with NCA and SAMA frameworks alongside ISO, NIST and PCI-DSS, so controls map straight to what auditors expect.

End to end

Six connected services, from strategy and awareness through testing, operations, cloud and technology.

Frequently asked questions

Which OT security standards do you work with?

NIST SP 800-82 and ISA/IEC 62443 for industrial systems, plus GDPR where personal data is involved. We build compliance frameworks that align with national and international best practice.

Can you test SCADA systems and PLCs?

Yes. Our IoT/OT penetration testing and risk assessments cover SCADA, PLCs and embedded systems, including firmware, protocols, access controls and physical attack paths.

Which wireless protocols do you test?

Wi-Fi, Zigbee and LoRaWAN, along with the network protocols and configurations that connect industrial devices.

Who must comply with NCA OTCC?

Organisations covered by ECC that own, operate or use OT systems, particularly in critical national infrastructure sectors.

Is our OT network safe if it is air-gapped?

True air gaps are rare. Remote access, USB drives, engineering laptops and undocumented links often connect OT to the outside world.

What is the difference between IoT and OT?

OT controls industrial physical processes. IoT covers connected devices more broadly, from sensors to cameras. Industrial IoT sits where the two meet.
